From research into why carrots are orange I discovered that they have links to the Dutch house of Orange. With a tale that they were specifically bred to be orange to honour the family, yet there are no facts to back up this story. There is however truth behind the orange carrots being used as a political device by the House of Orange, and during a revolt that removed the house of Orange from power it was deemed provocative as a vegetable seller to display too much of the orange carrot root. This led on to the idea of orange as a colour or idea being provocative and how this could be censored out.
